Economic Collapse As Debt Yields to Explode to 20% | Alasdair Macleod (WTFinance)
On this episode of the WTFinance podcast I had the pleasure of welcoming back Alasdair Macleod. Alasdair Macleod has over decades of experience in financial markets, with a focus on monetary history, systemic risk, and the enduring role of gold. He is one of the most respected voices on sound money and wealth preservation.
During our conversation we spoke about the current situation in the economy, the geopolitical crisis we're working through, Scott Bessents buyback, why yields could go to 20% and more. I hope you enjoy!
Global bond yields are rising caused by rising oil prices and struggling agriculture in the northern hemisphere. Although this video looks primarily at what the US might do to stop it, the same problem will arise with all heavily indebted countries. The basic truth is that the global economy is going down the drain, and the bond yields are a reflection of this fact.

The forbidden topic..(Asmongold)
The issue is average IQ and race. It should not be applied to all individuals in a group because a certain percentage of them will be highly intelligent or dim-witted. Factors like poverty, with stunted educational development, and nutrition, plus traditions of cousin marriage factor into it. Asmongold takes a hilarious look into the matter.

Japan’s ZOMBIE Economy Is About To Crash! – James Corbett (Jimmy Dore)
Reportage author James Corbett joins Jimmy to note that Japan's economy has been in a "zombie" state since its 1990s asset bubble burst, with prices barely moving for decades until recently, and now faces a falling yen and rising inflation driven in part by the Middle East conflict and import costs. Asked about how Japan handled COVID, he explains that the country was never under a formal lockdown or mask mandate, but widespread social pressure—what he calls "horizontal tyranny"—led most people to comply with measures like masking anyway.
Corbett points out that Japan's population is shrinking, with deaths exceeding births amid a persistent low fertility rate, though he notes he doesn't have the latest data on excess deaths. He traces Japan's stagnation to structural issues, including a fragile banking system and "zombie companies" that survived on ultra-low interest rates, while also suggesting Japan's technological progress stalled relative to China's rise.

How Australia should solve labour shortages (Leithvo)
The weekend's Treasury of Common Sense on Radio 2GB/4BC explained why immigration is the wrong policy for solving labour shortages. The best solution is to utilise our mature-age workforce better.
Immigration has actually made things worse in all respects compared to countries with low migration like Japan. The end of the video deals with the lack of Government transparency when it comes to their billion dollar investments into renewable energy - something that needs to be audited.

Alasdair Macleod: China Ends Retail Paper Gold & Opens the Floodgates (Mining Network)
Alasdair Macleod, economist and leading voice on sound money, returns to Mining Network to break down China’s rapidly accelerating gold strategy and what it means for Western paper markets, the dollar, and global monetary order.
Earlier this month Hong Kong launched its new gold central clearing and settlement system. This week several major Chinese banks (including ICBC) will end retail paper gold trading on the Shanghai Gold Exchange. At the same time, Beijing is easing long-standing restrictions on gold exports between the mainland and Hong Kong. Macleod argues these moves are not isolated — they form part of a deliberate, decades-long plan to secure the yuan against the eventual failure of the Western fiat system.
Both China and Russia hold a lot of gold. Alasdair warns that Western countries are up to their eyeballs in debt and are set for a big fall when Bond rates go up. He thinks that the wars in Ukraine and Iran will help push the West into a corner in terms of their economic positions. This would likely be due to a shortage of oil. The US cannot win against Iran, and Russia is winning in Ukraine where gas supplies to Europe are shut off. Western countries are going backwards economically as their levels of debt balloon.

Japan's Curry Visa Crackdown (Lotus Eaters)
Carl, Luca, and Firas discuss Japan's food xenophobia.
The Japanese are cracking down on foreign owned businesses through changes in legislation and increases in visa costs. They also have a problem with Islamists asserting control over areas of the country. The hard truth is no one has a right to move to another country. Like other countries in the West, the foreigners should be sent back. If Japan has a problem with low birth-rates that is a matter for them to solve, rather than importing workers.

Japan Is Breaking: The World's Biggest Carry Trade Is Starting to Crack.(maneco64)
Today we will look at the current turmoil in the forex and government bond markets as the Japanese yen and the Japanese government bonds or JGBs continue to drop sharply.
I explain why this crisis in Japan is so important for the rest of the world and how the Japanese Yen Carry Trade is at the heart of it.
The conclusion is that the cheapest source of funding for the world's financial systems, Japan, is rapidly drying up.

Something Just Broke That Held for 10,000 Years (Michael Button)
For most of human history, civilisation faced one fundamental problem: there were never enough workers.
From Ancient Rome to the Industrial Revolution, economic growth depended on human labour. More workers meant more production, more wealth, and more power. Entire societies were built around solving that problem.
But what if that assumption is no longer true?
Throughout history more workers equated to more growth - but in the early 21st century labour is much less needed as things have become vastly more automated.

New Oumuamua discovered in the Solar System! Japan is going to intercept it! (Angry Astronaut)
In 1998, astronomers detected what we thought was an asteroid. But, after a close approach in 2024, we discovered that it was very similar to Oumuamua!
And now, the JAXA Hayabusa 2 probe is on its way to intercept.
Scientists say it's a dark comet. Avi Loeb thinks it's a lost Soviet probe.
But it might be something far more alien.

Kiev Drone Strikes Zaporozhzhye NPP; West IAEA Silent; Russia Orekhov Breakthrough; Konstantinovka (Alexander Mercouris)
Ukraine has launched a fiber optic drone directly into the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and yet Western governments and the IAEA have nothing to say about it. Alexander Mercouris on The Duran breaks down a day of alarming developments: the accelerating collapse of Ukrainian resistance in Konstantinovka, the rapid Russian encirclement of Orekhov, credible new intelligence on the Oreshnik missile's devastating submunition capability, and the deepening silence in Western media as the Ukrainian front approaches a genuine existential crisis. Is the West sleepwalking toward a moment it will not be able to paper over?
The important point you can take from this latest Alexander Mercouris update on the conflict in Ukraine is that the Ukrainians have AGAIN attacked the Zaporozhzhye Nuclear Power Plant held by the Russians. The media constantly portrays the Ukrainians as the victims of Russian aggression but the reverse is true. The war began with the coup in Kiev where extremists took power who wanted to rid the country of Russians - when the country was a hybrid construction of areas that have been Russian for hundreds of years. Naturally the people in the Russian areas refused to go along with the coup government - in the Donbass and Crimean Peninsula - which led to the war.

U.S. Is Abandoning ALL OUR Asian & Middle Eastern Allies! – Scott Ritter (Jimmy Dore)
The U.S. is currently stripping THAAD missile defense systems from South Korea—a move that betrays decades of security commitments to Asian allies—and sending them to Israel, where they're all but useless against Iranian hypersonic weapons. Former weapons inspector and geopolitical analyst Scott Ritter explains to Jimmy that the entire missile defense concept is a "giant grift" that never worked, and that Iran has proven this by systematically dismantling U.S. military infrastructure while deliberately avoiding mass American casualties—a strategic choice born of intelligence and humanity, not weakness.
Ritter contrasts American arrogance and ignorance with Iranian precision and restraint, noting that even after the U.S. murdered their Supreme Leader and 186 schoolgirls, Iran targets only military assets, not civilians. The segment concludes that the U.S. has betrayed every ally—South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Gulf Arabs—all for Israel, and that the Iranians are fighting with more honor than their attackers.
This might be part of the point of the conflict - to lose big and turn allies against the US, to thrown a spanner in the works of being the world's policeman.

COL. Douglas Macgregor : War Is Coming Soon (Judging Freedom)
Macgregor opens with comments about Venezuela and asks, what's the end game? What will invading US troops do in a country with 30 million people plus surrounding nations that will likely send in paramilitary forces? The talk moves on to other countries becoming independent of US control, such as Japan and particularly Germany, the latter of which has historically strong connections to Russia. When it comes to Ukraine they address the corruption scandal that's impacting the Kiev Government where the corrupt are fleeing the country, and where Zelensky has a billion in cash. The war is a money stealing operation at the expense of those dying on the battlefield. Excellent geopolitical insights.
