They did not hire conscientious neutral-minded writers but activists, and it shows. If you look at a lot of the old writers for hit movies of the past they came from people who were fans of their story genres. They also had a level of sophistication and practicality when it came to connecting with their audience, as opposed to the current crop of writers who seem divorced from reality.
